A food safety question re eggs?
A friend of mine has chickens, and ends up with too many eggs, and has baskets full in her kitchen. She doesn't refrigerate them, and I'm leery of accepting eggs from her.How safe are eggs that have been left out for days or weeks? She claims they spoil faster in the fridge.

Natural food safety without BPA plastics; nonstick vs stainless; stoneware vs glassware?
with all this research coming out about BPA and plastics, i have several questions about cooking and storage 1 are plastic storage containers like gladware safe as long as you don't put them in the dishwasher? what about the freezer? if you can't freeze them and similar things like ziplock freezer bags, what should you freeze your food IN?2 i've thrown away my nonstick pans because of what i've read about coatings leaching into food. is stainless the best?3 what about baking in stoneware vs glassware? i've read old stoneware can leach lead into food, but obviously the newer stuff corningware, corelle wouldn't do that. but overall, is glassware safer even if it doesn't cook as evenly? i bought some stoneware corningware and it says not to soak the pans in water, which would seeminly make food removal rather difficult. been looking for glass casserole pans and can't find any.thanks

Need help with a food safety issue?
I made some Kim chi pickled cabbage well over 1 month ago. I went down stairs to check it and there is mold on the liquid of the ceramic container I was pickling it in. The cabbage is about 5 inches below the surface of the water where the mold is . If I removed the mold will the cabbage be safe to eat or should I chuck the whole thing and start over?

How does one report food safety violations?
I know of a business in a small Ohio town which has some concerning health safety violations. I'm worried that they are going to make someone very ill due to their poor food handling practices. I've been searching and searching for a number or email to report this issue and I have not had any luck. Does anyone know where someone would report food safety violations?

Is this a food safety issue with mayonaisse?
My local food chain has a large OUTSIDE display of mayonaisse. It has been very hot here and this mayo has been on display in heat of excess of 85 to 90 degrees for like 2 weeks now. The mayo is available for shoppers to pick up. It is an enclosed area with carts, but nonetheless, still out in the heat. My concern is if this is a food safety issue and can mayo be dangerous to eat after that type of storage. Thanks for any opinions

Question about food safety regarding thawing/freezing chicken?
Earlier this week I put some chicken breast in the fridge to defrost it for cooking the next day. Something came up and I didn't get the chance to cook dinner, so I checked on the chicken and it hadn't hardly even thawed at all it was still pretty frozen so I put it back in the freezer. Is it safe to thaw again and cook? Thanks.

I definitely do. It deserves way more attention than it is getting. Ever researched genetically modified foods and the FDA's stance? Just curious.

Home salt curing of fish what sorts of food safety concerns are there? ?
I found a recipe for lomi lomi where you salt cure salmon by caking it with a salt and sugar mixture for twenty four hours. Should such fish be considered raw and thus not served for " at risk" people, e.g. pregnant, immune disorder, etc?

Raw eggs and food safety?

For my research! What are your concerns for food safety when it comes to buying food products?

Using an eletric food warmer Food Safety?
Hello, regarding food safety.. anyone knows how long food can be kept in an electric food warmer? We have an electric food warmer which looks like a cabinet 2ft height 3ft width and its quite old but it heats leftovers very well. Not sure at what temperature it heats food as we no longer have the manual but my fingers would burn if I touch a warmed plate in the device.I kept some food in the food warmer aroud 8 pm for someone to have it at midnight but that person never came and the food remained in the warmer till the morning around 12 hours. Is it safe to eat this food or move it in the fridge or shall I just throw it? tastes and smells good though half a chicken, vegetables, soup and some rice
