All nut oils and other oils that contain more sugars and protein will go rancid on you. Even peanut butter will if you keep it long enough! So, nut oils especially need to be kept refrigerated. I would store them in a root cellar if you have one.. but come on, who has one of those these days? (Okay.. we built one.. cha-cha! And, it is wonderful). Canola and corn oil, or vegetable and even things like Crisco can be kept in a cool dark place well for up to six months. Cooking oil can usually be canola, vegetable, corn oil. They are good in the pantry, as long as it is dry and dark and cool. If you don't have air conditioning, you should refrigerate it in the warm months. |
