Question: Cooking directions question on ounces and cups?

There are instructions to boil one cup of tapioca balls with 8 cups water. I have one ounce of tapioca balls. So... there are 8 ounces a cup, right? How much water do I need? 1 1/ 4 cup? I just want to be sure. Well... the gram amount is 28.

Depends on whether the amount of tapioca you have is 1 ounce measured by volume or by weight.

I don't think you've converted this properly. First off, the cup measurements are both volume measurements. I'm guessing your one ounce of tapioca balls is a net weight, rather than volume measure. I don't know what volume 1 ounce of tapioca balls takes up in a measuring cup. Even if it does only take up 1/ 8 cup, then you conversion would be to use 1 cup of water to 1/ 8 cup of tapioca balls, not 1 1/ 4 cups water.

Your ratio is 1:8. 1 cup to 8 cups; so, 1 oz to 8 oz. Use 1 Cup water. Then again, tapioca is pretty lightweight... whatever the tapioca measures in the cup multiply by 8 for water.
