Any ideas on mass cooking bacon?

Question: Any ideas on mass cooking bacon?

(Posted by: thaiboxer218 on 2010-02-08 10:54:12)

Don't ask why but i have recently started cooking large amounts of bacon, really don't ask why. I am using a large wok on my biggest gas ring, i am also putting it on max temp and throwing a pack of bacon in at a time. it cooks really fast but the problem is when im cooking it tiny splashes of fat splatter everywhere. I try to clean up best i can after but like a full metre in every direction is covered in fat and its sooo sticky and nasty and i cant get the sh1t off. any other was i can cook large amounts of bacon without all the mess? i have an electric cooker, gas rings, microwave, geouge forman grill. ta!

I do my bacon in the george foreman. and to make sure it all cooks to crispy in one go, i put 4 rashers on the foreman, cook till pink but hardly no colour, take that off, put the remaining 4 on and cook till pink, then put the 4 that i previously cooked off, on top of that and leave it all to go crispy. that way we can eat at the same time, you dont have to watch it and it contains all grease and spitting in the machine and the tray

When I make this I make lots and then freeze in bags using my Food Saver storage system, this method saves time and not to mention the greasy clean up that comes with frying. Ingredients 1 1/ 2 lb bacon (can be as much bacon as you wish) Directions 1 Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (regular or convection oven, if you are using a regular oven set rack to lowest position). 2 For easy clean up line your pan with foil, then spray generously with cooking spray. 3 Arrange the bacon slices in 1 layer in the pan. 4 Cook the slices until evenly browned (about 17-22) minutes turning the bacon halfway through cooking time. 5 Transfer to paper towels or a rack. 6 Use immediately or freeze to use later. 7 Heat in microwave to crisp up before serving.

Cook in the oven on a large cookie sheet not too close to an element. (Never cook bacon in a microwave covered with paper towels, they can and do catch on fire)

Always on a cookie sheet in the oven. They cook evenly and straight and you don't have to fuss with them. For the person who said spray the sheet with cooking oil - are you kidding me? It's bacon - you know 75% fat already.

Lay it on a baking sheet with sides on it. I also line with parchment paper. It doesn't help with the grease situation bit it does help with clean up as well know bacon lave little stuck on bits. Bake at 350 for about 10-15 min. SLightly undercook it That way when you rehat it you dont have over crisp bacon. Lay on triple or quadruple thick paper towels and roll up. This also help abosrb a little more grease. The put in plastic ziplock baggies. This will keep in the fridge for at least a month like this.

Get one of those fine mesh screens to put over the wok. They are sold at most restaurant supply stores and gourmet shops. Probably in your local superstore too. They come in various sizes. It lets steam escape but stops grease popping all over the kitchen.

I would go for the grill ., make sure you get it up to temperature before you start Cover the pan in foil then place all the layers along the grill pan . Cook at medium heat , as any higher means it cooks too quickly and burns . Turn over all the slices after about 3 or 4 mins . There will still be a bit of mess , but most is on the foil which you can just remove when it is cool and throw away . The grill pan may need just a wipe
