Question: Can campbell's french onion soup be substituted for golden mushroom soup for cooking purposes?

I'm doing a beef vegetable soup in my crock pot that calls for one 10.5 oz can of condensed french onion soup but I accidentally used campbell's condensed golden mushroom soup instead. is it ruined??? Thank you everyone so much for your quick replies! I sauted my ground beef with a fesh chopped onion and celrey to start the soup so i should be good. Thanks again.

That will be just fine. It just won't have that oniony taste unless you add some onions and you can't go wrong with mushrooms in any way

Golden Mushroom Soup is a cream based soup. French onion may be condensed, but is a broth based soup. You may want to add some liquid (broth) so your recipe doesn't get too thick

The golden mushroom is a cream based soup, but i think it should work out just fine in the end.

French Onion Soup is basically clear beef broth with onions. Golden mushroom soup contains cream. It might get a little weird.
