Do you use a particular variety of potato for the dish, i slice the potato paper thin with a v slicer but it 's never cooked and cooking for a least a couple of hours. what am i doing wrong I'm in Sydney Australia yes i am using the usual ingerdients, cream, bacon, onion, garlic, cheese

This is my recipie; Peel and par boil potatoes ( I just use washed ones) for about 10 minutes Rinse in cold water and slice but not too thinley In a cassorole dish, layer potatoes, a little finely sliced onion, grated chedder cheese and a little salt and pepper to taste and repeat in layers. Pour a mixture of 300ml of thickend cream and 1 glove of garlic over the top Finish off with a layer of grated cheese Cook for about 1/ 2 hour in a 180 degree oven with the lid off (finley sliced bacon to every second layer gives a nice taste also) Always turns out YUMMY for me. Give it a go. PARTLEY BOIL THE POTATOES AND DON'T SLICE TOO THIN.

Without more information, I don't know what kind of recipe you are trying to make or what the ingredients are - so it is hard to guess what is going wrong. Are you using enough liquids to absorb ? Are you using milk and cheeses ? Change some of the ingredients around and see if that helps. Peace.

Are you tring to make scalloped potatoes? Any thin sliced spud should work covered with a mix of milk, cream, 1/ 2 and 1/ 2 and cheese..what ever you have on hand. Try going to Allrecipes.com or foodnetwork.com. You are right it should be done, is your oven on ??LOL LOL
