Need help cooking turkey for 1st Thanksgiving?
I am freaking out. This is my first year cooking a turkey and I have 15 people telling me 15 different things. I have a 13.71 lb turkey that is going to be brined in a savory turkey brine. I will be cooking in an Electric roaster with a turkey bag. I have no clue when to baste or how long to cook or even what to season this thing with. I am getting more and more confused. Can someone help me out or at least point me in the right direction? Also, am cooking the turkey unstuffed. It has been in the fridge since Saturday and we are cooking Friday. The brining will take around 24 hours so we will start that on Thursday. I am also gonna use a meat thermoter where do I want to put it. The roster says cook times should be nearly the same and the brining recipe says it will cook faster.

Planning on cooking turkey which is 7lbs from 12.30 tonight at 50 degrees till morning is this ok?
does this sound ok or shall i stick to the butchers suggestions? my mum suggest cooking it all night. oh and it's a turkey crown not a full bird...... cheers.

Those of you who use "the bag method" of cooking turkey, what do You do before putting in the bag for cooking?
I know what all one can do, just curious as to what each of you do and how you like the results.

Can I substitute alternative flour for cooking turkey in bag?
Has anyone ever cooked turkey in the bag? I wanted to cook my Christmas Turkey in a bag this year, but then when I went to put it in there, I looked at the directions and it said to put flour in it to avoid sticking. I have a severe wheat allergy, so obviously I didn't have any flour and prepare it that way, but I wasn't sure if I could substitute rice flour or corn starch for the flour next year. Does anyone have any ideas?

Cooking turkey breast in crock pot?
Is this a good idea? Its a 6.5 lb turkey breast. How long would it likely take? What seasonings should I add to it?Or would I be better off trying to find an oven to cook it in?

Cooking turkey lunch/dinner for two. Turkey cooking virgin. Suggestions, encouragements?
We have decided to have our thanksgiving dinner together. It wasn't really my idea, and now I have to figure out how to cook a whole turkey by myself.I have watched numerous videos and read countless recipes, but I still feel very intimidated by that bird.Do you have any type of suggestions... encouragements? Thanks guys You're life savers I have a small turkey.I can't believe I didn't think of thawing today... I was going to do that tomorrow.I will thaw it and brine it overnight. I didn't know what brining was 2 minutes ago, but I now know I have to thaw, then brine.Yay I'll get right to it You all have a nice Thanksgiving

Cooking Turkey + stuffing separately... what should i make first?
Hi all, I am hosting thanksgiving dinner for the first time. I am not planning to put stuffing into the turkey as my turkey will be stuffed with veggies. So I am planning to bake my stuffing in a 9x13 pan. I'm making stuffing with apples, sausage and cranberry The problem is my oven is only big enough to hold the turkey, so there's no way for me to cook both at the same time. I am trying to figure out how I should time out my cooking. What should I bake first? The stuffing or the turkey? I think my 10 pound turkey should take about 3.5 hr to bake and I think the stuffing will take about an hour....

Cooking turkey at low temp?
Okay so i was wondering if i can cook my turkey at a very low temp overnight to acheive a very juicy bird. we currently have a 30 lb turkey and have a suggested cook time for 7 hours at 350, but can we set the oven lower then that for a longer period of time? I do know that the meat does need to exceed 185 as that is a safe temp. Thanks alot

If you have ever cooked turkey in "the bag" do you prefer it over cooking regular way?
